House of Worship

The first Temple to be constructed in Africa also referred to as the Mother Temple of Africa. The House of Worship is a place of solace and supplication open to all. It attracts the hearts of all who yearn to commune with their Creator. Every Sunday a special program draws Bahá’ís and their friends together to sing prayers in melodious tones, and recite heavenly verses. Service and worship become one in the activities hosted in its vicinity. ‘Abdu’l-Bahá explained that through the provision of education, healthcare and other services, the House of Worship will in time support the social and economic progress of the wider community and afford shelter, relief and assistance to travelers and locals alike. Currently the site houses the offices of the National Bahá’í Community and facilities for the Training Institute.

Work done in the spirit of service is the highest form of worship.
